Reta Roebuck, 89, dies

Columbus, OH — Reta Rose Roebuck (nee Leenknegt), 89, of Urbana, Ohio, died March 18, 2021, at Vancrest in Urbana.

Reta Roebuck died March 18, 2021.

Mrs. Roebuck was born June 3, 1931, in Chatham, Ontario, the daughter of the late Alfons and Elsie (de Wit) Leenknegt. She met and married Ken Roebuck on Sept. 24, 1956. They moved to Ohio with their young family in 1964 and settled in Urbana to raise their 10 children.

She was a member of the Grace Mutual United Methodist Church and the USTA. She retired in 1997 from the Hall Co. in Urbana after 20 years of service and was a 4H Sewing Adviser for many years.

Her other passions were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and knitting. She adored spending time with her family and enjoyed the many trips taken to Canada for family reunions. She was truly a beautiful person and will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

The family is completely heartbroken by the loss of their mother but are comforted in knowing that she is rejoicing in Heaven with the love of her life, Ken, and her sons, Ronnie and Scott.

Mrs. Roebuck is survived by her sister, Jean Burrows; children, Bonnie (Phillip) Maley, Donnie, Karen, Joanne (Pat) Petty, Brian (Judy), Robin (Jon) Berry, Amy (Kevin) Shepherd and Gaye (Craig) Carafa; grandchildren, Alissa (Nate) Jones, Jonathon Maley, Ashley, Evan (Lauren) Petty, Ellen Petty, Casey, Ranee (Todd) Dewiel, Rachel Berry, Thomas Berry, Luke Shepherd, Emma Shepherd, Bryce (Krista) Carafa, Andrew Carafa and Carly Carafa; great-grandchildren, Jack Dewiel, Addie Dewiel, Ava Jones, Paige Maley, Georgia Petty, Henry Petty, Ronni Price and Lennon Carafa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; first husband, Ronald Hazzard; sons, Ronnie Hazzard and Scott; parents; brother, Jack; and daughter-in-law, Julie.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, Ohio. A public celebration of both Reta and Ken’s life will take place in early summer.
