Rheal “Coco” Cormier dies

Pompano Beach, FL — Harness racing lost one of the best caretakers in the industry on Aug. 14, 2014, in Montague, PEI. Nobody could take credit for rubbing as many champions as Rheal “Coco” Cormier.

He was one of a kind and took great pride in his profession. He was sought after by many of the greatest trainers and was always given the best they had and it was for a very good reason.

Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of Noel and Simonne (née Roy) Cormier.

He was a groom in the United States and his favorite horse was Donerail.

Mr. Cormier is survived by his parents, Noel and Simonne; brother, Serge (Tara); maternal grandmother, Yvonne Roy; nephews, Nicholas and Noah; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends in the horse racing industry.

By request, no visitation will be held at the funeral home.

Celebration of the word will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Wednesday (Aug. 20) at 10:30 am. Interment in the Chartersville Funeral Home Columbarium, Dieppe, NB.

Memorial contributions to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
