Rhett Seelster, Perth Angel De Vie ‘pocket rockets’ in Pocono features

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Rhett Seelster and Perth Angel De Vie rallied from the pocket to win their respective $17,000 features on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 21) at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Rhett Seelster endured an eventful journey early in the pacing feature — he was bothered by a rough-gaited horse before the quarter and then advanced first-over at the half — but he worked into a vacated two-hole behind Red Power on the far turn. Anthony Napolitano gave Rhett Seelster a small breather before angling out again and catching Red Power by a nose in 1:50.4. Antonia Storer trains the son of Sportswriter for Daniel Maier.

Perth Angel De Vie’s pocket journey in the featured trot was of the more conventional variety: She yielded to favorite Sweet Heart AS early, sat in until the stretch, and then used the Pocono Pike to get up by a neck over a tenacious first-over Kazans Power in 1:54.4. Sweet Heart AS settled for third. Tom Jackson drove the Explosive Matter mare for trainer Harold Brocklehurst and the partnership of Double R Farms LLC, David Obley and Richard Williams.

Elsewhere on the card, Andrew Harris earned his first driving win in 12 years, doing so with the Somebeachsomewhere filly Silver Tail in what was just his second appearance in the bike since giving up driving in favor of training.
