Richard Malone Sr., 72, dies

Salisbury, MD — Richard “Bunky” Malone, Sr., 72, of Salisbury, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Calvin William Malone and Gladys “Peggy” Malone.

Bunky retired from his concrete business in 1994 and was the owner / operator of Memories Restaurant and Lounge in Delmar until 2006. He was always a fan of horse racing, owning his first horse in 1982 and continued to be a horse owner / trainer / breeder throughout his life. He was a member of Salisbury Moose Lodge 654, United States Trotting Association and a US Air Force veteran. He loved fishing, hunting, eating, gardening, but his true passion was horse racing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sylvia Jean McCary Malone; 4 children, Richard J. Malone, Jr. of Eden, Ronald C. Malone and wife, Heather of Delmar, Gail L. Foltz and husband, Casey of Salisbury and Tom Jones and wife, Missy of Parsonsburg; 14 grandchildren, Brian, Kristal, Amanda, Alleigh, Alec, Seth, Thomas, Caleb, Erica, David, Patrick, Tyler, Hannah and Emily; 10 great grandchildren, Dillon, Alexx, Kamryn, Molly, Kiley, Shawn, Declan, Scott, Joe and Penny; a sister, Beverly Bozman of FL; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonya Maria Jones and a brother, William Ronald Malone.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 2 pm at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. Rev. Howard Travers will officiate.
