Richard Morris, 88, dies

Columbus, OH — Richard J. Morris, 88, of Columbus, Ohio, died at home on Feb. 27, 2015.

Mr. Morris was a veteran of the U.S. Merchant Marines in World War II and was retired from Ohio Bell Telephone Co.

He was a 1944 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and attended Franklin University. He was a member of St. Michael Church, K of C St. Michael Council 11445-Worthington, Ohio, American Legion Post 239, and Columbus Telephone Pioneers.

Mr. Morris had a 51-year affiliation with the Little Brown Jug, was a longtime scorekeeper for the Dublin-Coffman baseball team, and a Red Coat at Ohio Stadium for 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Elinor; daughter, Victoria (Peter) Guy; grandson, Anthony (Jessica); great-grandsons, Michael and Robert; and great-granddaughter, Olivia. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday (March 4) at St. Michael Church, 5750 N. High St., Worthington, Ohio. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday (March 3) at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
