Riddlemethat ends Boca Hanover’s win streak

FT. WASHINGTON, MD — Riddlemethat [$3.20, $2.60, $2.20] came to Rosecroft Raceway from the Delaware circuit with a purpose – to best the field of $10,000 distaff Open pacers on Saturday night. She did just that, bringing Boca Hanover’s four-race winning streak to an end.

The 6-year-old Ball And Chain mare, who was a top contender at Rosecroft in 2006, left the gate from post position two with Corey Callahan in the bike. Riddlemethat quarter-poled for the lead around Boca Hanover after an opening tick of 27.3 and took the field through middle fractions of 56.3 and 1:25.2. Callahan urged the mare on in the stretch, and as the 3-5 betting choice, Riddlemethat took her third victory of the year with a mile timed in 1:54.0. Shaun Callahan trains the winner of nearly $170,000 lifetime for owner Nick Callahan.

Fire And Art [$3.40, $3.40] worked out a perfect trip along the rail for second. Driven by John Wagner, the 3-year-old Dragon Again filly made up ground in the passing lane late in the mile. Manley Brown Jr. trains the filly for owner Pamela Wagner.

After dueling with Riddlemethat through the opening fraction, Boca Hanover [$2.40] held on for third in the stretch. Guided by regular reinsman Frank Milby, the successful daughter of The Panderosa attempted a first-over bid against the leader but faded late in the mile. Prior to this race, Boca Hanover had won four consecutive races at this level of competition. Don Milby trains the 5-year-old mare for owner Irwin Samelman.

Live racing returns to Rosecroft on Monday at 5:35 p.m., where several levels of the Open pace and trot will be showcased.
