Risenshine Seaside surges late, wins Meadow top pace

Washington, PA – Risenshine Seaside surged near the wire to win his stretch duel with Liteningonthebeach and Saturday’s $19,200 Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 3-5 favorite, Risenshine Seaside was content to stalk Liteningonthebeach from the pocket. When Ronnie Wrenn, Jr. asked him for pace at the top of the lane, the 5-year-old Downbytheseaside-Vivid Shine gelding had just enough to edge Liteningonthebeach by x in 1:51.2. Whitecookie was a ground-saving third.

Ron Burke trains Risenshine Seaside, who boosted his career earnings to $315,193, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Phillip Collura.

Hunter Myers piloted three winners on the 12-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Wednesday (April 16) when the program features a $381.90 carryover in the Lucky7 (race three). First post is 12:45 p.m.
