Robert Impson, 88, dies

Columbus, OH — Robert O. Impson, 88, died Jan. 24, 2011.

Mr. Impson was born Jan. 11, 1923, in Urbana, Ohio, the son of Justin and Flossie (Quick) Impson. He was a graduate of the O.S. and S.O. Home in Xenia, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army Recon. Co. 611th Tank Destroyer Battalion during World War II. After the war he attended Cedarville College and later earned his master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, taught in Bellbrook, Ohio, and later became superintendent of Cedar Cliff Local Schools for 28 years.

Mr. Impson was a member of American Legion Post 544 and the USTA; and past president of Greene County Easter Seals, Greene County Harness Horsemen’s Association, AXP, and the Rooney Fund.

He is survived by his daughters, Gail and Louella Kay Smith; grandchildren, Christopher (Laurie) McGilveary, Jody (Jamie) McGilveary and Lauren (Chad) Haulman; great-granddaughter, Kayla; and great-grandson, Keven. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edna Marie (Bauknecht); daughter, Carol Sue McGilveary; brothers, John and Charles; and sister, Willetta Arnold.

A viewing will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28, at the Collier Chapel on the Legacy Ministries campus at 690 Home Ave., Xenia, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. at Collier Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 29. Interment will be at North Cemetery, Cedarville, Ohio.
