Roberts, Foster record hat tricks at Rosecroft

Fort Washington, MD — Jonathan Roberts and Russell Foster each had driving triples to highlight the Sunday night (Dec. 20) card at Rosecroft.

Roberts scored with the crafty claimer Whosurpapa for William McMillan and trainer Michael Hall. It was the 51st win for the 11-year-old son of Whosurboy. Roberts also won with $9,000 feature with Starship, owned by his dad, ‘Bib’ Roberts, and trained by his sister, Megan Roberts. It was the third win in four local starts for Starship since relocating on the east coast for his new connections.

Roberts now has 37 wins at the Rosecroft fall meet, putting him at the top of the driving standings with one night to go.

Foster led his triple with a win aboard the popular Hi Sir, trained by his wife, Megan. Foster owns the 12-year-old son of of Sir Luck who won for the 58th time in 309 starts.

Wednesday night (Dec. 23) will close out the meet with three $20,000 feature events. The Maryland Distaff for pacing mares, the Maryland Trotting Derby, and the Maryland Invitational for male pacers. Entries were determined by the horses who made the most money at the fall meet while making a minimum of five starts at Rosecroft. Post time for the 14-race card is 7:15 p.m.
