Roberts wins five at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — On a cold and very wet Monday night (April 18) at Rosecroft Raceway, driver Jonathan Roberts still managed to catch fire.

The 40-year-old Roberts, second in the Rosecroft dash standings, made up some ground by winning five races on Monday, three of those for his father, Bib, who netted a training triple. Starship, Buckeye N and Rocktavius all found the winner’s circle, the latter picking up his 46th career win.

Roberts also picked up wins with Tapped Teen for Michael Hall and Champ Charbel for Joseph Karrat in the Daily Double that netted a $336.10 payout.

Jason Thompson and Island Of The Sea won the Open Handicap for a second straight week. Thompson sent the 5-year-old altered son of Always A Virgin to the front and never came close to giving up the lead for owner-trainer Eric Ell and wife Lisa.

Frank Milby won with Always B Magic for his 2,996th career win.
