Rock N Roll Heaven, One More Laugh together but apart in Lexington

by Ken Weingartner, Harness Racing Communications

Freehold, NJ — Rock N Roll Heaven, who has won five races in a row including the Breeders Crown, Little Brown Jug and Battle of the Brandywine, will face nine foes in a $111,500 division of the Bluegrass Stakes at The Red Mile in Lexington on Saturday (Oct. 16). One More Laugh, the Meadowlands Pace champ, meets nine others in a separate $111,500 Bluegrass split.

The No. 1-ranked horse in harness racing, Rock N Roll Heaven has won 11 of 16 races and $1.47 million this season. He was beaten by a head in both the Meadowlands Pace and a division of the Oliver Wendell Holmes — his only setbacks since a fourth-place finish in the North America Cup at Mohawk in June.

Rock N Roll Heaven is not eligible to the Tattersalls Pace at The Red Mile on October 23, but could be supplemented.

“I think Mr. Bellino (owner Frank Bellino) would like to do that, but it’s all contingent on the well being of the horse; as long as he’s healthy and fresh,” trainer Bruce Saunders said after Rock N Roll Heaven won last weekend’s Breeders Crown by 5-1/2 lengths in 1:49. “He’s got a few starts left and Mr. Bellino loves to race horses, so we’ll race him every opportunity we can.”

Rock N Roll Heaven will start from post No. 10 in his Bluegrass division. The rest of the field, from the rail, is Piece Of The Rock, Rockin Image, Razzle Dazzle, Allthatgltrsisgold, Morgan Shark, Perrito Caliente, World Of Rocknroll, Aracache Hanover, and Whackamole Hanover.

One More Laugh, who has won six of 14 races and $1.09 million this year, will start his Bluegrass from post eight. To his outside are Shoobee’s Place and Four Starz Trace. Inside, from the rail, are Dreamlands Art, Trader Blue Chip, Just Crowned, Kyle Major, Doc’s Yankee, Urgent Action, and Windfall Blue Chip.
