Rock N’ Roll Jet scores at Rosecroft

Ft. Washington, MD — Rock N’ Roll Jet, the 2018 Rosecroft Horse of the Year, was shut out in his first eight starts of the 2019 racing season. The winner of 10 races in 2018 was searching for his best strides, and over the last two weeks, he has found it.

Sunday night (March 24), driver Kim Vincent put him in perfect position second over, and he got to pacesetter Hickory Aloha in 1:52.2, winning by a head.

Dawn Webb and trainer Buddy Bright own the 10-year-old son of Rocknroll Hanover who picked up win number 49 and lifted his lifetime earnings to $397,960.

It was a great night for some other classy veterans as well.

Abelard Hanover, another son of Rocknroll Hanover, won the 59th race of his terrific career in taking the finale, giving Frank Milby a driving double, and trainer John Hollingsworth a training double. His lifetime earnings now sit at $796,337.

The Milby-Hollingsworth connection also provided a win with Talking Blues, yet another son of Rocknroll Hanover, in 1:55, holding off a fast closing Laurent Hanover by a head.

Sean Bier had a driving and training double as he scored a victory with his recent claim, Sam McSmith, in 1:52.1 for owner Vinnie Ferriero Jr.

Bier also scored with his wife Christine’s horse, Yankee Artillery, who showed some grit digging in to hold off Foiledbythebeach and Bad Man Sam in 1:54 for his second straight win.

Winbak Carl, a 10-year-old son of Royal Mattjesty, scored his 35th lifetime win, going gate-to-wire in 1:53.4 to take the $10,000-$12,500 claiming handicap. Joseph Hayes and trainer Eric Davis campaign the classy Winbak Farm product.

Rosecroft management wishes to extend condolences to owner-trainer Morte Bedford IV on the loss of his father, Morte Bedford III.
