Roger Huston to promote Adios on Pittsburgh TV

Washington, PA — He’s called 44 editions of the Delvin Miller Adios Pace for the Orchids, and now, Roger Huston will appear on a prominent Pittsburgh TV station to promote this year’s Adios on behalf of the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association.

Huston is scheduled to be interviewed on KDKA-TV’s Pittsburgh Today Live on Friday (July 21); the show begins at 9 a.m. Huston, who’s now retired as the longtime race caller at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows but still serves as the voice of the Little Brown Jug, says he expects to discuss his all-time favorite Adios races and also offer insight into this year’s contest.

Eliminations for the $450,000 (est.) Adios are set for Saturday (July 22) at 12:45 p.m., with the Adios Day final to go on Saturday (July 29), first post 11:45 a.m.

The Adios Day card is a harness racing extravaganza that features five Grand Circuit stakes as well as the Adios. This year’s Pace for the Orchids promises to be competitive and exciting, as many of the sport’s top 3-year-old pacers — including North America Cup winner It’s My Show — are eligible for the Adios.

Current Meadows announcer Jeff Zidek will handle those duties for the Adios, but he indicates that he’s invited Huston to participate in Adios Day by calling a few of the featured races.
