Sacramento, CA — Cal Expo is sad to report the death of horse owner Ronald C. Lingle, 67, who died at his home in Minnesota on May 24, 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cathi; children, Matt (Kristin), Ron (Nancy), Luke (Courtney), Lacey (Nick) Puente and Jacob (Calena); grandchildren, Chrysler, Selena, Dionicio, Logan, Manny, Lukys and Gavin; and sister, Nancy (Alan) Jacobson. He was preceded in death by his father, James; mother, Cecil; stepfather, Roy Wood; and brother, Donald.

Frank Petrelli, who trained for Mr. Lingle, was high in his praise of the owner/breeder.

“He was one of the nicest and best owners I’ve ever had the pleasure to train for,” Petrelli said. “It was more than just business, he was family, and he loved the horses. His wife told me that over the last six months, watching the races was one of the things that kept him going.”
