Roosevelt Raceway author book signing on Nov. 21

The three authors, Victoria M. Howard, Billy Haughton and Freddie Hudson, will be signing their book Roosevelt Raceway Where It All Began at the Book Revue in Huntington on Nov. 21 from 7–9 p.m.

The book details the story of Long Island’s Roosevelt Raceway, located in the town of Westbury, from its beginning in 1940 to its end and final closing in 1988.

Roosevelt Raceway Where It All Began is a captivating read. The story begins with the rise and fall of the storied Roosevelt Raceway, the world capital of harness racing. It tells of one man, George Morton Levy, who had a vision that he turned into a reality. He turned a weekend gentleman sport into a major league sport that at the time was considered to be the fastest growing sport in the United States. The racing business was fast-paced and involved gangsters, crooked politicians, unions, celebrities and many scandals.

The book is also filled with stories of the top talented harness drivers, horses, races and the statistics that made Roosevelt Raceway the number one and most popular harness track in the world.
