Rosecroft hat tricks for Milby, Porter

Fort Washington, MD — Drivers Frank Milby and Trae Porter won three races apiece on the Wednesday (Oct. 14) card at Rosecroft Raceway.

Milby took the $10,000 trotting feature with Explosive Drama ($26.40), who held off a late charge from favorite Judge Bob to spring a 12-1 upset in 1:55.3. Jason Walters owns and trains the son of Explosive Matter, who picked up his 26th career win. Milby also scored with his own Anna B ($11.80), as well as with Windsun Cobra ($6.00).

Porter won the $12,000 mares pacing feature with Sassa’s Sister ($10.80), who overcame post post eight to win in a lifetime best 1:51.3. Porter, the lukewarm 4-1 favorite, made two moves — one off the gate to drop in fourth, and then another just before the half to grind down the pace setter Hillbilly Jet and eventual second-place finisher Jive Dancing A. James Porter trains the daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven for owner Eugene Landy. The 19-year-old Trae Porter also won with Eli Scott trainees Quik To Fool You ($7.00) and Ideal Flip ($4.00).

Ricky Still guided 11-year-old trotter Splitsville to his 53rd lifetime win for Richard Starke and trainer Jenny Bier. The son of Hard Rock N Roll has amassed $336,931 in purses.

DVC Kolor Me Crazy won for the 27th time in her career for owner-trainer Beth Shockley and driver Roger Plante.

The youthful driving colony had a big night. In addition to Porter’s success, 20-year old Luke Hanners drove Hippestcatintown to a maiden-breaking 1:52 win — 15-3/4 lengths the best — for owner-trainer Richard Hans.
