Fort Washington, MD – Rosecroft Raceway is seeking an assistant racetrack superintendent.

Position Title: ASSISTANT RACETRACK SUPERINTENDENT
Location: Rosecroft Raceway, Fort Washington, MD

SUMMARY
Full-Time Assistant Racetrack Superintendent who will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the harness racing surface through operating various types of equipment.

Job Type: Full-Time
Rate: $22 – $26 Per Hour
Schedule: Approx 40 Hours per week with flexibility to accommodate live racing schedule

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the racing surface.
• Operates vehicles such as tractors, water trucks, racetrack equipment, tools and supplies required for maintaining the integrity of the racing surface.
• Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.
• Maintains equipment utilized for track maintenance.
• Adheres to regulatory, safety, departmental and company policies. Supports safety and accident prevention programs and informs manager on duty of any safety problems or concerns.
• General Staff Support
• May operate small tools / other mechanical equipment
• May include Landscaping/Snow removal
• May include General Repair and Maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Proven farm tractor related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to work independently or as a team with other employees when needed

LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Must be able to read and write in English and have good verbal communicating skills.

REASONING ABILITY
• Ability to identify and quickly respond to racing surface issues.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license
• Must qualify annually for the Maryland State Racing Commission License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time
• Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations, including: ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 25 lbs., walk and stand for long periods of time, and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel, and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces

WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Ability to work in multiple environments: outside, public, and Horse Stable Areas
• Able to handle stressful situations when dealing with racing
