Roy O’Hagan, 83, dies

Mississauga, ON — Roy O’Hagan, 83, of Hanover, Ont., died at the London Health Sciences Centre on Jan. 22, 2017.

Mr. O’Hagan trained, raced, bought and sold horses for more than 50 years. He spent many winters training yearlings in Florida.

His proudest moment was seeing one of his trainees, Rock N Roll Heaven, go on to become 2010 Horse of the Year. He shared many special memories with his spouse, Marlene, and son, Mike, as they followed the stallion’s illustrious career.

Mr. O’Hagan is survived by his loving partner, Marlene Schmidt; his children, Michael (Sheila), Colleen (Tony) Regier, Pat (Anne), Christine (Ted) Zettel; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no funeral or visitation. Cremation has taken place.
