RUS Ontario to raise money for cancer research

from RUS Ontario

Campbellville, ON — RUS Ontario kicks off the 2014 season at Mohawk Racetrack on Tuesday (July 1).

RUS Ontario, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, will hold the first “Trot for the Cure” under saddle race to raise money for Cancer research. One hundred percent of the money raised will go towards the Canadian Cancer Society.

Riders will be wearing the signature yellow colors of the Cancer Society on their helmets, “Trot for the Cure” headbands on their mounts, as well as commemorative arm bands in memory of Jim Carr, a major sponsor of RUS Ontario in 2013 and an integral part of promoting Standardbred racing in Ontario. His passing early this year came as a great loss to the industry.

Pledges to the Canadian Cancer Society can be made through RUS Ontario by contacting Julie Walker, President; Sarah Town, Vice-President; and Board Member Maggie Jones. Pledge forms will be made available to all riders and members of RUS Ontario. We will also be taking donations trackside July 1. Inquiries can be directed to racingundersaddle@gmail.com.

Please visit our website at www.rusontario.com for news as it becomes available, and more information on our exciting 2014 season.

RUS Ontario and the Canadian Cancer Society would like to thank you in advance for your support and look forward to seeing you at the track.
