Russell Borelle, 70, dies

Columbus, OH — Russell J. Borelle, 70, died May 25, 2012.

Mr. Borelle owned several New York Sire Stakes winners including Gracie’s Day ($186,665), Westland ($137,774) and Ayrton, all trained by Skip Lewis.

Mr. Borelle, along with his partner Salvador Leccese, bred several Standardbreds including Santa Anna Wind, who earned $261,726 during his 394 race career.

He is survived by his sisters, Roslyn Germano, Marie Carr and Gayla (Bill) Clark; his dear friend, Victoria Lutwak; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and John; and brother, John Jr.

Friends may call on Thursday (June 7) from 4-6 p.m. at the Funeral Home, 777 Long Pond Rd. (between English and Latta). A funeral mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday (June 8) at St. John the Evangelist Church, West Ridge Rd. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Villa.
