Saint K edges out stablemate in Meadows feature; Warren wins 5

Washington, PA — Saint K drew even with his stablemate, Gold Stones, in the final turn, then edged past in deep stretch to capture Wednesday’s (Dec. 28) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $15,400 Conditioned Trot.

Shawn Johnston edged off the cones for a potential quarter-pole move with Saint K but thought better of it, opting instead to preserve Saint K’s brush until later in the mile. That proved a wise decision, as the 4-year-old Sebastian K S-Mauresmo gelding moved first over from third and downed Gold Stones by a neck in 1:55.4 over a sloppy surface while Fawn De Touch shot the Lightning Lane for show.

Sarah Andrews trains Saint K and owns with Angela Cornell and Tessie Esry.

Ridge Warren collected five wins and Aaron Merriman three on the 13-race card while Jacob Fox enjoyed a training double and a driving victory.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (Dec. 29) when the 13-race program features a pair of carryovers: $1,589.94 in the final-race Jackpot Super Hi-5, $288.97 in the Jackpot Pick-5 (race 4). First post is 12:45 p.m.
