Saratoga Springs, NY — The New York Sire Stakes came to Saratoga Casino and Raceway on Saturday night (July 27) as 3-year-old pacing fillies were featured.

There were three divisions on the card and it was Summertime Lea (Lislea) who stole the show. The Ron Burke trainee moved her career record to 13 for 16 with a front running score in the $74,125 battle for fillies. Jim Marohn, Jr. piloted the standout to her 1:52.2 romp on Saturday night.

Marohn also sat behind Winbak Heavenly (American Ideal) as she pulled off the biggest upset of the stakes races. Winbak Heavenly survived a tight win photo to prevail in 1:53.2 at odds of 12-1.

Springforth (Artiscape) overcame some traffic trouble to prevail in her NYSS race in 1:54.2 for the track’s leading trainer Melissa Beckwith, with Mark Beckwith in the driver’s seat.

Live racing resumes on Tuesday night at Saratoga with a first post time set for 7:05 p.m.
