Sassa’s Sister upsets Harrington ladies
April 13, 2021,Harrington, DE — Eugene Landy’s Sassa’s Sister ($46.60, Trae Porter) sprang a major upset in the $20,000 Mares Open on Tuesday (April 13) at Harrington Raceway.
The Jim Porter trainee catapulted to the lead in deep stretch, holding off Moments Of Joy and Anytime N in 1:54.3 for her fourth win of the year. Sassa’s Sister fanned out wide from third-over position and surged through the stretch to spring the upset.
It was the second straight win on the card at long odds for that owner, trainer and driver combination, who also won with You Beda Rock ($18.20) in the race prior.
Trainer Clyde Francis, owner George Teague and driver Montrell Teague scored a double with Rowdy Rousey ($10.60) and Dirty Shirley ($16.80). Allan Davis and Art Stafford Jr. also had driving doubles.
