Springfield, IL — Due to heavy overnight rains in the Springfield area which turned the one-mile racing oval into a sea of mud, Saturday’s (Aug.14) 11-race program at the Illinois State Fair has been cancelled because of the sloppy conditions.

With Sunday, Aug. 15, scheduled to have been a “dark day” the 11-race card will now be contested on that date. Post time for the 11-race program will be 12 noon (CDT).

The Land of Lincoln Yearling Sale in Sherman, originally scheduled to begin at 12 noon (CDT) on Sunday, will now begin at 3 p.m. (CDT). However, if racing is postponed on Sunday at Springfield, the sale will begin at noon as originally scheduled.
