SBOANJ Trotting Series continues Friday at Freehold

Freehold, NJ — The Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey sponsored trot for New Jersey-sired trotters continues on Friday afternoon (Nov. 8) at Freehold Raceway, attracting a field of six 3-year-olds. It is scheduled as the third race, with an approximate post time of 1:10 p.m.

Two of the five fillies who entered the first leg last week return for leg two. Dark As A Pocket tracked the dominant Evident Beauty throughout, before ending up second. Without Evident Beauty, Dark As A Pocket should have an easier time of things. She drew post position four, with Jim Marohn Jr. driving for trainer Linda Toscano.

Princess Deo is the other filly in the field, and she’s one of two entrants for the Lucas Wallin stable. She finished fourth last week, and will seek a rebound from post position two. As a 2-year-old, she won the Garden State trot at The Meadowlands and was second in the Goldsmith Maid, but has not been able to find that form as a 3-year-old.

Four colts and geldings entered, including Wallin’s other entrant, Sovereign Deo.

Alternative Fact is the only one in the field who did not race in the first leg, having most recently come in fifth in the Garden State trot two weeks ago. Prior to that, he reeled off five straight wins. Ray Schnittker trains and drives from post position one.

Luicus Vorenus won the Garden State two starts back, and was a close second in the first leg last out. The Nick Surick trainee will leave from post position six, with Jason Bartlett in the sulky.

Warrior One, third in the first leg last week, completes the field.

The final will be held next Friday (Nov. 15) and carry a purse of $50,000.

The first of ten races at Freehold on Friday is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (EST).
