Scholarship announced by MSOA

from the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association

Meadow Lands, PA — The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the MSOA Collegiate Scholarship Program for the 2009-10 school year.

The MSOA is offering $5,000 in scholarship money toward undergraduate work in the upcoming school year. The scholarship is a one-year payment, and the winner(s) can reapply in future years as well.

To be eligible, the individual must be a son or daughter of an owner, trainer, driver or groom who has participated in harness racing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on a regular basis over the two years preceding application. Said parent must be a member of the MSOA, and the applicant must be at least a senior in high school.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer this scholarship,” said MSOA President Richard Gillock. “I believe it is an excellent opportunity for the student, and we are happy to help the families of our horsemen in this unique way.”

In addition to the $5,000 MSOA Scholarship, an additional $1,000 will be available this year thanks to a donation from LCM Nutraceuticals, Inc. (www.lcmequinenutraceuticals.com).

Both scholarships have a deadline of May 15, 2009 to apply, and will be administered by the Harness Horse Youth Foundation.

For additional information and to receive applications by mail or fax, please contact Kim Hankins or Sandy Dyson in the MSOA office by calling (724) 228-3644.
