Scholarships are available for the harness racing community

Monticello, NY — For the sixth consecutive year scholarships are again available for those pursuing higher education related to the harness racing industry.

“Our Equine Scholarship Fund provides assistance for any individual in the harness racing community — their children and/or family members — in pursuit of higher education,” noted David Yarock, an avid amateur driver and the president of both the Donald Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Edward Weiner and Edward Yarock Equine Scholarship Fund. “Our goal is to expand the fund in order to assist as many students as possible.

“The future of the harness industry is dependent upon young educated people becoming a part of it and we hope to play an integral role by providing this financial assistance.”

Last year a total of $21,000 was distributed to 18 deserving students and again this year scholarships are available. Applications for scholarships can be found at www.equinescholarship.com but they must be filed before May 31.
