Schwartz finishes second in first leg of World Cup

Monticello, NY — Alan Schwartz, the United States representative in the prestigious World Cup of Amateur Racing, currently being held in and around Paris, France, finished second in the first leg which was contested Tuesday (July 20) at the racecourse at Cabourg, a small Norman version of Paris’ Vincennes.
Schwartz’s mount, Quelle Classe, went off at odds of 18-1 in the race won by Prieure, who was driven by the Spanish rep, Carlos-Alberto Cruellas Munar.
The races at Cabourg are at night and one more will be contested before the night is through. In all, there will be eight events in the World Cup competition.
There are 13 countries competing in this year’s World Cup.
