Scioto Downs to conduct action-packed weekend of racing

Columbus, OH — Join Scioto Downs for another action packed night of racing on Friday (Aug. 4) as they kick off the 3-year-old filly trot and pace for the Ohio State Fair races. There will be two eight-horse fields for the trotters and three nine-horse fields for the pacing division. The post time for this event is 6:30 p.m.

The first race of the night will be the first division of the trotting division as Rose Run Sydney (post position three) is picked as the morning line favorite with 5-2 odds. Rose Run Sydney is trained by Steve Carter as he has already brought her to four wins out of her six starts as a 3-year old.

Race two of the evening will be last division of trotters competing for a purse of $51,650. This field of eight has a lot of talent lined up, the favorite seems to be Gabbysloosechange with odds of 6-5 starting in the four-hole. Gabbysloosechange is looking to cross the wire to get her forth win in a row in the Buckeye State. Christopher Beaver has done a tremendous job training this filly, she had no previous starts in her 2-year old career. Her 3-year-old career is off to an excellent start with six wins out of eight starts, with finishing lower than third once. Gabbysloosechange will be the one to watch this season.

The first division of pacers will come behind the gate in the third race to go for a purse amount of $41,000. Out of the nine horses that are entered in this field the two horses that will be the ones to watch will be Ellasen starting out of the four-hole and Full Body Shot starting from the rail. Ellasen is the favorite at 9-2 while Full Body Shot is 7-2. Ellasen is trained by Ron Potter who is wanting to make it two in a row as far as wins goes.

Second division of pacers brings a big morning line favorite of 5-2 for Pistol Packin Mama out of the Tyler George stable. She will be starting from the rail in this nine-horse field. Pistol Packin Mama has already won four out her six starts this season. While she is currently looking for her trifecta of wins in this tough field. Pistol Packin Mama has already won $64,750 this year. She will be the one to beat.

In the final division for the pacers, the morning line favorite seems to be Rose Run Skyler who has a great start to her 3-year old career. She is coming off a qualifier after taking almost a month off of racing, looking to come back and improve her winning streak of four-in-row before her time off.

Racing action will continue for another great night of racing on as the 3-year old colts come to battle in five divisions. There will be another night of three divisions of pacers going for a combined purse total of $123,700. Trotters will come together to battle between two divisions in for a total of $103,600. With a post time of 6:30 p.m. for this action packed night.

Race two of this 15-race night will be the first race of Ohio State Fair racing actions and the pacers will be first up. It is a tough field of nine pacers, Mcthriller out of the Brian Brown stable is the colt who sticks out. Only having four starts as a 3-year old, his two wins where in the 3-year-old Ohio Sire Stakes. As he is fresh off a qualifier as of Aug. 1. Mcthriller will start in the seven-hole.

Race three continues the pacers division where the two horses to watch for would be between, Scotch Mcewan (three-hole) and Barnabas (nine-hole). As it is Scotch Mcewan is sitting pretty with two back-to-back win in the fair circuit, is looking for a third win in the pari-mutuel races. While Barnabas is picked to have Ronnie Wrenn Jr. to drive behind him, Wrenn has led this horse to a victory and second place win the last two time he has raced this colt.

Wrapping up the final division of pacers is a packed race of 10 that will line up behind the gate. It could be any horses race with the competitiveness in this field. The morning line favorite is Barley Up with the odds of 9-2.

Race 11 brings the first division of trotters together in a seven-horse field. Fraser Ridge out of the Christopher Beaver stable is the one who is standing out with the morning line odds of 9-5. Fraser Ridge will be starting out of post position three.

Race 12 will complete both the trotting division and Ohio State fair racing on Saturday night (Aug. 5). The favorite (3-1) is Buckeye Boss, looking to be the boss in the Buckeye State in hopes to get two wins in a row. He is coming off a win at Northfield Park on July 10 in the 3-year old colt sire stakes.
