Scirocco Rob and driver Tim Tetrick settled in fourth behind a hotly-contested early pace, and then attacked after being parked to the quarter in :27. The 6-year-old Explosive Matter gelding cleared early leader Morairtime with a lap to go, and led the field to the half in :55.2. Midway up the backstretch, Northern Express pulled first-over and pressured Scirocco Rob to three-quarters in 1:24. They raced as a team into the stretch, where Scirocco Rob dug in and won by a half length in 1:53.2. Northern Express (Russell Foster) was a game second; Bluebird Jesse (Allan Davis) rallied belatedly for third.
