Scott Zeron wins 4,000th career race

Mississauga, ON — Less than five years after recording his 3,000th career driving victory at Yonkers Raceway, Scott Zeron added yet another milestone at the Hilltop oval.

Zeron drove the 4,000th winner of his career on Wednesday night (July 14), when he guided Delitfulcatherin N to a 1:54.2 victory in the seventh race at Yonkers Raceway.

After stalking from third through a :57.4 half, Zeron angled 1-5 favorite Delitefulcatherin N first-over up the backstretch to engage and wear down pacesetter Ideal In Miracles before fending off a late challenge from pocket rival Sea Of Love BC to win the $20,000 conditioned distaff pace by a half-length for trainer Deborah Daguet and the partnership of D Racing Stable, Yves Sarrazin and Donald MacRae.

The 32-year-old Zeron, who launched his driving career in 2007 in his native Ontario, won the 2016 Trotting Triple Crown with Dan Patch and O’Brien Award winner Marion Marauder, and has eclipsed $5 million in earnings each of the last 10 seasons. Now based in Campbell Hall, N.Y., Zeron is currently sixth in the drivers’ standings at both Yonkers and The Meadowlands and boasts more than $81 million in purses.
