Scuola Hanover beats the boys Monday at Harrington

Harrington, DE – Pacing mare Scuola Hanover ($12.20, Art Stafford Jr.) beat a field of male pacers in the $20,000 Open Pace Monday (Aug. 16) at Harrington Raceway in 1:52.2.

Owned by Art and Andrew Stafford and Thomas Ireland, the 6-year-old Rocknroll Dance mare held off a fierce late charge from Jack’s Legend N for her 28th career win. American Admiral was third.

Scuola Hanover, from her rail post position, assumed command from the pocket as leader Proper One yielded near the three-quarters in 1:24 with race favorite Jack’s Legend N attacking after a three-wide move, but the latter would never get by the gritty mare who prevailed by a nose. Trained by co-owner Andrew Stafford, “Scuola” has seven wins this year.

Pat Berry and Montrell Teague each had three wins on the card.

Stafford and Allan Davis had a driving double.
