Sea Ya Mystery stuns the boys in the $25,700 Maryland Sire Stakes Open

Berlin, MD — The 4- and 5-year-old Open Maryland Sire Stake went to post on Wednesday (July 6) at Ocean Downs. The seven-horse field was paired down to six (three boys and three girls) due to a scratch.

When the gate opened it looked like the usual duel between Stunners Wish (Rusty’s For Real) and Nvrfearlloydishere (Rusty’s All In) with Stunners Wish in control and Nvrfearlloydishere getting the perfect pocket trip.

Sea Ya Mystery (Rusty’s For Real) sat sixth until the backside when reinsman Bill Long swept three deep, rolling by the boys in the last turn to stride on to a 1-3/4 length win in 1:54.4, last quarter in :27.1.

Long is also the trainer and owner of Sea Ya Mystery; the late Dale Massey was the breeder.

Ocean Downs begins Thursday racing on July 7 with four divisions of the Future Hope series for 2-year-old pacers and one division of the Go Get Lost series for 2-year-old trotters.

The Ostrich and Camel races return to Ocean Downs on Sunday (July 10).
