Sebastian K tops first Poll of 2014

Freehold, NJ — Swedish invader Sebastian K is the No. 1 horse in the year’s first Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll.
The 8-year-old trotter made his North American debut May 10 with a world-record-equaling 1:50.1 mile and followed up a week later with a stakes-record 1:50.2 score in the Arthur J. Cutler Memorial at the Meadowlands.
Perfect Alliance, who is 10-for-10 this year and set the world record for a 4-year-old trotting mare in defeating 2013 Horse of the Year Bee A Magician in the opening round of the Miss Versatility Series on Monday night at Woodbine, is No. 2 in the rankings.
Three-time Dan Patch Award winner Foiled Again is third, followed by female pacer Somwherovrarainbow, who was the Dan Patch Award winner for best 2-year-old filly pacer in 2012.
Dancin Yankee, who earlier this month won the Van Rose Memorial at Pocono Downs and followed up by equaling the fastest pacing mile ever on a five-eighths track, 1:47.2, rounds out the top five.
A total of 44 horses received at least one point.
