Self Evident, driven by Wally Hennessey, scored his third straight victory at Pompano Park after taking Wednesday’s fourth race in 1:58.2.

Driven from post three by Wally Hennessey, Self Evident settled along the pylons in third place while My Last Wish (John Kakaley) showed the way through opening fractions of :29.3 and :59.4.

As the field made its way down the backstretch, Hennessey angled Self Evident to the outside to attack first over, and the gelding quickly began to whittle away at the lead held by My Last Wish.

Self Evident put his head in front through a three-quarter split in 1:28.4, and assumed control of the race on the final turn, entering the stretch with a one length advantage, which he extended to 1-1/4 lengths at the wire.

The pocket-sitting Excalibur MC (Mel Turcotte) crossed the wire second, but was disqualified and placed third for interference in the stretch to Renegade Dream (Rod Allen), who was awarded the place spot.

Self Evident returned $4.80, $3.40, $2.80 for the victory. Renegade Dream brought in $5.80, $3.20 for second, while Excalibur MC paid $10.00 for third.

Owned by trainer Don Swick of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and Royal Wire Products Inc. of North Royalton, Ohio, Self Evident is a Hambletonian eligible son of Self Possessed, out of the stakes winning mare My Little Petunia.

Swick-trained horses have made 11 starts at Pompano this year and have prevailed on five occasions.
