Series final action continues at Scioto

The race card was plagued with a big storm that went through south Columbus and delayed the start of the races for nearly an hour. Five races in, nine freshman fillies lined up behind the gate.

She Means Business and Tyler Smith left from post five, but favorite She’sonebadmomma (Jeremy Smith) took the lead midway around the first turn towards the :27.3 opening quarter. Parklane Unique (Trevor Smith) applied pressure to the leader at the :57.2 half and 1:25.1 third quarter, but could never clear.

As the field came out of the last turn, She Means Business pulled to the outside and won by 1-3/4 lengths. Twenty (Chris Page) was second and She’sonebadmomma finished third.

The Pet Rock filly out of the Western Ideal mare Nuzzle Hanover is trained by Ryan Miller for Miller Racing Stable, Chris Gilbert, Mazing Racing Stable and HorsePlay Racing Stable. She was a $23,000 Ohio Select Sale yearling purchase and now has $36,175 earned on the year.

She Means Business paid $5.40 to win.

The series was for rookie pacing fillies who had not won a race or $7,500 as of July 24.

The final division – pacing colts and geldings – will race their second leg of the series on Thursday (Aug. 26) and final on Thursday (Sept. 2).

Racing is held at Eldorado Scioto Downs Tuesday through Saturday with a 6:15 p.m. first post. A complete 2021 race schedule can be found here.
