Several tracks cancel Wednesday cards

from harness publicists across North America

Inclement weather has forced Monticello Raceway, Balmoral, Buffalo, Flamboro and Western Fair to cancel Wednesday cards.

Monticello, NY — Another imminent winter storm has prompted Monticello Raceway to cancel its live racing program on Wednesday (Feb. 2). Simulcasting, both day and night, is also canceled.

Qualifying races, which usually go on Wednesdays, are also called off and they will be rescheduled at a later date.

Weather permitting, racing will resume on Thursday (Feb. 3) with first post slated at 12:25 p.m.

Crete, IL — Due to blizzard like conditions, Balmoral Park has been forced to cancel its live racing program that had been scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 2.

Qualifiers that were scheduled for Wednesday morning were also canceled after a blizzard warning was put into effect from 3 p.m. Tuesday until 3 p.m. Wednesday for the entire Chicagoland area.

The storm is expected to dump between 15-24 inches of snow throughout the two-day period with wind gusts exceeding 50 mph at times.

The draw for Saturday’s Balmoral card has been moved back to Thursday, Feb. 3, as well. Entries will close at 10 a.m.

No decision has been made as to the status of live racing at Maywood Park on Thursday, Feb. 3, as of this time.

Hamburg, NY — Buffalo Raceway has canceled harness racing for Wednesday, Feb. 2. The winter storm that is hitting much of the country is predicted to hit the Buffalo area early Wednesday and last throughout much of the day, dumping 8-12 inches of snow.

Racing will resume on Friday, Feb. 4, at 6:40 p.m.

Qualifiers scheduled for Wednesday will be moved to Friday at 5 p.m.

At this time simulcast will remain open.

Hamilton, ON — An imminent winter storm has prompted Flamboro Downs officials to cancel the racing card scheduled for Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 2).

A massive storm system is expected to dump as much as 40 centimeters of snow on southern Ontario between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. The system is also packing high winds and freezing rain.

Flamboro Downs resumes live racing on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 3) with a post time of 1 p.m.

London, ON — Western Fair Raceway has canceled Wednesday’s scheduled card of live racing due to Tuesday night’s storm and the fact that the London area is currently experiencing additional snowfall making travel to and from the track a challenge.

The next live program at Western Fair is slated for Friday night (Feb. 4) with a 7:05 p.m. post time.
