The 7-year-old Finnish-bred Shadow Woodland, driven by Ulf Ohlsson, trotted a new world record of 1:54.1f from a standing start Tuesday night (April 5) at the Eskilstuna track in Sweden.

Shadow Woodland, who is trained by Reijo Liljendahl, lowered the old record by a full second.

Shadow Woodland is sired by The Bosses Lindy, who last year ranked eighth on the stallion list in Finland.

On Wednesday night (April 6) one of last year’s leading 3-year-old trotters in North America, Uncle Lasse, will have his European debut at Solvalla, Uncle Lasse was bought by Stefan Melander late last year and he will be in the bike. Uncle Lasse will race in a leg of the Solvalla Series for 4-year-old trotters over the 1-5/16th mile distance.
