Shartin N qualifies at Dover

Dover, DE — Multiple Dan Patch Award winner Shartin N returned in a qualifier at Dover Downs on Wednesday morning (Feb. 19).

Shartin N, with Tim Tetrick driving, left alertly from post six and settled into third position. Apple Bottom Jeans also left and sat in the pocket. Highalator carved out fractions of :28.2, :55.3 and 1:23.2.

Both Apple Bottom Jeans and Shartin N surged off the rail in the deep stretch. Shartin N won by a neck over Apple Bottom Jeans in 1:51.3. Highalator was third.

Shartin N won the Dan Patch Award as top older pacing mare for the second straight season in 2019. She won 15 of 19 races, finished second three times, and earned $982,177. She became the fastest female in harness racing history with a 1:46.4 victory in the Lady Liberty at The Meadowlands. Other wins included the Blue Chip Matchmaker Series final, Roses Are Red, Golden Girls, and Artiscape.

Shartin N is a New Zealand-bred daughter of Tintin In America-Bagdarin, bred by G. J. Crabbe, trained by Jim King Jr., and driven by Tim Tetrick, who is co-owner through his Tim Tetrick LLC with Jo Ann Looney-King, Jim’s wife, and Richard Poillucci.
