Scarborough, ME — Shawn Gray visited the winner’s circle for the 1,500th time in his 15-year driving career on Tuesday (August 12) after engineering the winning strategy while sulky-sitting Anthony Brannigan’s Hurricane Emily at the Maine State Fair at Skowhegan Raceway.

Shawn Gray, shown here teaming Rupert Rupert to a recent victory at Scarborough Downs, recorded the 1,500th win of his career on August 12 at the Maine State Fair.

Gray, a 34-year-old native of South Gardiner, Maine, recorded the milestone victory 15 years to the day from when the driver first broke his maiden — a 1993 score behind Timer Choice at the County Raceway in Presque Isle, Maine.

While currently sitting fourth on the Scarborough Downs leaderboard, Gray is engaged in a neck and neck battle with leading Scarborough driver Drew Campbell for bragging rights on a state-wide basis, with only a scant handful of wins separating the two top-rated teamsters on the Pine Tree Circuit.

A recognition ceremony will be held in the Scarborough Downs winner’s circle upon Shawn Gray’s next visit to the seaside oval.

Scarborough Downs proudly features live harness racing every Thursday, Friday and Saturday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. (EDT). The popular Sunday matinees feature a 1:30 p.m. post time.
