Sicario sets track record at Dresden Raceway

Dresden, ON — The 12-year-old record for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings was equaled today as Sicario trotted the local oval in 1:59.3, tying the mark set by Starsel in 2006.

Sicario hit the track in the first division of Ontario Sire Stakes (OSS) for owner Bax Stable of Campbellville and Dave Hudson of Dallas, Texas. The 3 year-old Holiday Road gelding cut fractions of :29.1, :59.1, 1:30 for driver Steve Byron before stepping off the last quarter in :29.3, for the mile in 1:59.3.

Daylon Phantom and Wayne Henry finished second for driver Wayne Henry while Road Tripper and Anthony MacDonald finished third.

Leaderofthepack and Ryan Holliday set the fractions of :29.1, :59.1, 1:30.2 for a mile of 2:00.2 to win the second division of OSS sophomore trotters. Edstone and Trevor Henry finished second while Delcrest Holiday and Steve Byron finished third

Leaderofthepack is owned by trainer Dave Holiday and Ben Holliday of Mount Forest.

Kevin McMaster student Art Seeker was the winner of the 10th race today for driver Anthony MacDonald, breaking Grand Bay’s wins teak at five in a row at Dresden.

Dresden Raceway celebrated Canada Day with an 8ft Canada Day cake frosted like a Canadian flag as well as many special giveaways.

The handle at Dresden Raceway was C$23,620.
