Simulated Dexter Cup to be contested on Friday

Columbus, OH — The U.S. Trotting Association, in conjunction with Off And Pacing, continues its series of simulated stakes races on Friday (May 1) with the Dexter Cup from virtual Freehold Raceway.

The Dexter Cup and Lady Suffolk were originally scheduled to take place on Saturday (May 2), but were canceled due to the continued closure of live racing and shelter in place orders from New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy due to COVID-19.

Historically, the Dexter Cup has kicked off the Road to the Hambletonian and is one of the first prep races for 3-year-old trotters. The simulated field features New York Sire Stakes final runner-up Chaptiama and Patriarch Hanover who was second to Amigo Volo in the Matron at Dover Downs in November.

The simulated race can be viewed via the USTA Facebook page at this link, with the live stream starting at 1 p.m.
