Six divisions of the John Simpson Memorial raced at the Red Mile

My Little Dragon and Lotsa Muscle were among the winners in six divisions of the John Simpson Memorial for 2-year-old filly pacers and 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters Friday night at The Red Mile.

My Little Dragon, a 2-year-old filly by Dragon Again, won her career debut in a sparkling 1:53 for driver Ron Pierce and trainer Noel Daley. My Little Dragon sat fifth early, took over at the half and never looked back en route to a powerful three-length win over Mommy Robin Q. Clova checked in third.

My Little Dragon, owned by Adam Victor & Son Stable, entered the Simpson off two qualifiers in Lexington .

The 2-year-old trotting colt Lotsa Muscle, a maiden in six starts, broke through in his seventh start with a first-over victory in 1:57 1/5 for trainer Ross Croghan and driver Yannick Gingras. The Muscles Yankee colt, owned by Arthur Rudolph, Rudolph Stables and Bernard Owen, held off a hard-charging Make You Mine, who just missed by a head. Berto Primo rallied for third.

In the other cuts for 2-year-old pacing fillies:

Pilgrim’s Witchie, trained by Scott Andrews and driven by Dan Shetler, won for the first time in five starts in 1:55 3/5. Pilgrim’s Witchie (The Panderosa) just held off a fast-closing Dream Isle, with Only Way To Go third. Pilgrim’s Witchie is owned by Rodney Andrews and Edward Andrews.

Caviart Callie, trained by Jim Arledge Jr. and driven by David Miller, notched her second career victory with a win in 1:53 4/5. Owned by Caviart Farms, Caviart Callie ( Cam ‘s Card Shark) just held off Allamerican Excel, who made up a lot of ground for second. Cordial Yankee also closed well for third.

In the other divisions for 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters:

Ira K, trained by John Shultz and driven by Gingras, led most of the way to win in 1:59 1/5 for his third lifetime win in seven starts. Curl The Pearl finished second but was disqualified for a break near the wire and placed third. Double Player was placed second. Ira K (Yankee Glide) is owned by Ira Kristel.

Roman Holiday, most accomplished by number of wins with three, picked up his fourth career victory with a one-length win over Man About Town in 1:57 3/5, a lifetime mark. Roman Holiday (Dream Vacation) is trained by Ervin Miller and was driven by Eric Ledford for owners H.W. Wright, Don Coleman and Mystical Marker Farms. Kallies Kaviar rallied for third.

Purses for the six Simpson Memorial divisions totaled $81,300.
