Sixteen Mikes first-over to victory in Meadows $22,000 trot

Washington, PA — Sixteen Mikes put away Valley Of Sin following a protracted duel and went on to win Saturday’s (Jan. 7) $22,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Sixteen Mikes was third down the backside when Tony Hall sent him after Valley Of Sin, who was seeking his fourth consecutive victory. They were inseparable until mid-stretch when Sixteen Mikes overcame the tiring leader and scored in 1:55.2.

TSM Photo Bugger shot the Lightning Lane for second, 1-1/2 lengths back, while Nothinbutanallstar rallied for show.

Rich Gillock trains Sixteen Mikes, a 7-year-old American Mike-Sweetsixteenkarets gelding who pushed his career bankroll to $218,234, for owner/breeder Bob Key.

Mike Wilder collected three wins on the 12-race card.
