Skyway Bebop continues hot form at Philly

Chester, PA — Skyway Bebop won for the fourth time in five starts for trainer Tim Crissman when she rallied to a 1:55 score Thursday’s (April 14) $15,300 trotting feature at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Driver Tony Morgan settled Skyway Bebop in midfield on the first turn, and then followed the cover of Big Bad Swan as Tequila N Roses cut fractions of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:25.2. Morgan tipped the Guccio mare three-wide midway through the far turn and trotted strongly to the line to defeat the Tequila N Roses by a length for owner Niss Allen Inc.

Eye Ofa Tiger AS won the $13,000 fast-class trot in 1:55.2, boosting his lifetime bankroll to $763,637. Tim Tetrick tucked the Chapter Seven gelding early and then was locked in by lively outer movement, but Tetrick coolly waited for the inside to open and then his trotter shot through, getting past second choice Miss McKee by two lengths for trainer Anette Lorentzon and owners ACL Stuteri AB and Kjell Johansson.

Investors in a 1-2-8-6-5 Super Hi-5 ticket in the the third race got a $2,096.80 payoff for a 50-cent wager, even with odds-on favorite Fashion On A Star in the top spot. A carryover of $13,746.79 from the previous unsolved Super Hi-5 prompted a $30,000 pool guaranteed by the USTA Strategic Wagering program, and attracted $43,000 in “fresh money.”

Friday’s (April 15) racing at Harrah’s Philadelphia, starting at 12:25 p.m., will be headlined by a $16,200 pace for the fast-class set, with Groovy Joe tabbed as the early choice upon shipping in from Yonkers. Program pages for the Friday card are available on the PHHA website.
