Slick Tony wins Rosecroft feature

Ft. Washington, MD — In conditions more fit for ducks than horses, Slick Tony captured the $12,500 Open Handicap Pace at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday night (May 7).

The chase to be a millionaire is going strong for the 7-year-old son of No Spin Zone as he won for the fifth time in his last seven starts, and twice in the last six days. Slick Tony had just won the Open Handicap at Harrington on Monday.

Jared Moyer got his razor sharp horse to the front at the first quarter mark and never looked back in 1:52.2 on a track rated sloppy. The win was the 58th in 151 starts for the homebred, owned and trained by Nola Leager. His career earnings now sit at $939,135.

Precision Bluechip chased gamely from the pocket, earning his eighth runner-up spot in 11 starts; he has still not missed the board this year. Rocktavius was third.

Jack Quick won the $11,000 Winners Over Pace to give Trae Porter one of his three wins on the night. Porter rallied behind the cover of eventual third place finisher Buckeye N, and caught front-running Dirt On My Boots to win in 1:53.3, pacing the last quarter in a quick :27.3.

Jonathan Roberts won three times, Jared Moyer and John Wagner won twice, while trainers Jerry Nock and John Hollingsworth each had a training double.
