SOA of NY/Yonkers Raceway scholarship winners recognized

from the Standardbred Owners Association of New York

Yonkers, NY — The 2014-2015 SOA of New York/Yonkers Raceway scholarship winners were recognized in the winner’s circle at Yonkers Raceway on Saturday (July 26).

The $5,000 first place scholarship award winner Alleysha Reynolds was in the winner’s circle with her family and received the check from SOA of NY President Joe Faraldo and Yonkers Raceway Track Superintendent Ed Ryan.

Faraldo and Ryan also presented the second place prize, a $3,000 scholarship, to Sarah Vallee, daughter of Yonkers trainers Shaun and Anita Vallee.

Alleysha Reynolds is currently enrolled at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa., where she is majoring in equine science and management. Sarah Vallee will begin her studies at the University of Delaware this Fall where she plans to become a veterinarian.

The annual SOA of NY/Yonkers Raceway scholarships are awarded to SOA members, or members of their immediate families, or to covered individuals (backstretch personnel) or a member of their immediate families, for study beyond the high school level. The recipient is chosen on the basis of merit and financial need.
