Soho Burning Love A takes Dover Mare Open

Dover, DE – Soho Burning Love A raced from off the pace and captured the Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs on Wednesday (Jan. 5) night. Last week driver Tim Tetrick and Soho Burning Love A sat in the pocket for a perfect trip and faded late.

Tonight, it was a different strategy. Shes Pukka N and So Miki Hanover both blasted off the wings of the starting gate and paced to the quarter pole. Shes Pukka A and driver George Napolitano Jr. held the lead briefly before So Miki Hanover and driver Montrell Teague took and the lead past the quarter in a blistering :26.2.

Shes Pukka A, normally on the engine, accepted the pocket. So Miki Hanover led the field of quality pacing mares to the half in :54.4 (28.2) Tim Tetrick and Soho Burning Love A pulled first-over from fourth past the halfway station. They inched up on the rim and challenged So Miki Hanover. The team dueled to the three quarters in 1:23.1(28.2).

In the stretch, Soho Burning Love A surged to the front and won by 1 1/4 lengths and timed in 1:51. She paid $4.80 to win. Soho Burning Love A (Auckland Reactor N -Soho Bordeaux-Western Terror) is owned by Jo Ann Looney-King, DE, Brian Carsey, IN and Jeff Fought Racing, OH.

So Miki Hanover cut the mile and finished second for trainer Jake Leamon. Montrell Teague drove.

Shes Pukka N sat in the pocket and finished third for trainer Brian Malone. George Napolitano Jr. drove. Tim Tetrick won three races on the betting card. There will be a Pick-5 carry over of $4,580 starting on the sixth race on Thursday (Jan. 6) night.

The feature, the Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace, is scheduled for the 12th race.
