Sombaro Montae captures Fox Stake

Indianapolis, IN — Sombaro Montae went right to the front from post position six and was never caught in capturing the $46,304 Fox Stake for 2-year-old pacers on Thursday night (Aug. 20) at the Indiana State Fair.

LeWayne Miller was in the bike for trainer Erv Miller as the son of Shadyshark Hanover-Macon Up crossed the finish line in a time of 1:55.3, one length ahead of runner-up Bluebird Synergy (Peter Wrenn). Baggage Claim (Darrell Wright) finished third.

Ronald Michelon is the owner of the 2-year-old gelding, who won for the first time in eight career starts. He has banked $40,777 in his freshman campaign.
