Driven by Matt Kakaley, Some Gold launched a prolonged first-up bid, picking off tiring leader ER Rock My World (George Brennan) to win the $16,500, eighth-race pace by a neck in 1:55. His first board finish in five seasonal starts returned $147.50 to those few believers.

Jupiter Johnny (Jason Bartlett) finished third as the 8-5 favorite, while I Fount My Beach (Troy Beyer) finished fourth.

Some Gold, a 6-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding owned by Simners Racing and trained by ‘Irish’ Joe Hanney, led a $668 exacta, $4,732 triple and $27,290 superfecta.

The superfecta was a base $2 payout, with a 10-cent ticket worth $1,364.50.
